     The menu was handsomely printed on gold and tinted paper, embellished with an American spread-eagle, and bearing the letters printed on the outside, in red, white and blue, the words:

     The minutes of former meetings were read by Secretary Woodward, and approved.
     Major Jones, the Treasurer, read a very interesting report of the condition of the Society, and gave a happy account of a trip made to the Soldiers' Home, at Dayton, Ohio, in June, 18878, by members of the Society, on the invitation of Colonel Brown, the Commandant at the Home.  His report was received with expressions of satisfacton, and ordered filed.  On motion of Major Jones, the chair appointed a committee of three, to nominate officers for the ensuing year; the committee was General Baldwin, Major Jones, and Captain De Bus.  These gentlemen retired from the parlor for a short time, and presented the following names to the Society:  For President, General M. F. Force; for Vice Presidents, General A. Hickenlooper, General F. W. Moore, Colonel P. P. Lane, Surgeon A. E. Heighway, Major Frank J. Jones; for Secretary, Captain J. H. Woodward; for Treasurer, Major George B. Fox; Executive Commettee, Colonel L. M. Dayton, Colonel A. E. Collins, LIeutenant A. H. Mattox, Captain Henry De Bus, Major E. C. Dawes.  Several of the gentlemen nominated declined, for private reasons, and on motion it was decided to elect by ballo9t.  Other nominations were made, and the balloting proceeded with the following result:
