GEORGE CARMEAN was born in Ross County, Ohio, in 1819, and moved to Allen County in 1838, and from there came to Jackson Township in 1873.  At that time there had been but little ditching done in the township.  It was mainly through his efforts that the principal ditches were cut and leading roads opened.
