On Thursday last, by James Jeffrie, Esq.   Mr. Daniel Willer, to Miss Killy Miller, both of Jonathan's Creek, Muskingum Co.

The HOPE and ANCHOR TAVERN.  The public are respectfully informed, that the Subscriber has commenced the business of public entertainment, in Springfield, Muskingum County, in that large and commodious brick house formerly occupied by William Burnham.   John Leavens, Proprietor.

The subscriber has commenced the Gold and Silversmith Business, in the Town of Springfield, opposite Zanesville and next door to Doctor Mathew's Drugstore and Post office.   Harry Safford proprietor.

DIED in Springfield on the 2 of the prevalent ________?

William Wills, Esq. age 60 years     ______ Mr. Wills was a native of Connecticut and came to this county at an early period - was in the contractor's employ during a long and bloody Indian war, and at St. Clair's defeat narrowly escaped the tomahawk.

Also on the same day of the dame disorder, Zeno Chandler, son of the late Doct. Chandler who died last week, age 16.

We learn that General Cass has resigned his command in the Army of the U. S., having been appointed Governor of the Michigan Territory.

DIED in this county, Mr. Levi Sherman, in attempting to cross the Licking river at Dillon's furnace with a team of six horses, the whole were drowned.

At his residence near Sprinfield, Major Lewis Nye of the prevailing fever.

DIED - At his farm near Zanesville, of the prevailing epidemic, in the 57th year of his age, Mr. John Willy,  a local preacher in the Methodist Episcopal Society.    On Monday, the 4th inst. he fell asleep in Jesus.

MARRIED - On Thursday evening last Mr. ___ Arnold of Virginia to Miss Prudence Jackson, daughter of Col. George Jackson of this county.

On the evening of the same day Mr. Wm. Baker to Miss Polly Edgeway, both of this town.

On Wednesday night last, the jail of this county was discovered to be on fire, which was entirely consumed.... it has been set on fire by a runaway negro, who had been confined there the day before, his object was to burn a hole sufficient to escape through.

On Saturday last the following officers were elected in this town under the act of incorporation viz:
Mayor - William Craig
Trustees - George Reeve, Peter Mills, S. W. Culbertson, James Hampson, N. C. Finlay.
Recorder - William Blocksorn
Assessor - Ezekiel Bisset

William Baker respectfully informs his friends and in general the public that he has commenced the tailoring business.

Death on the Plains
The St. Louis Republican gives the deaths that have been reported at Fort Laramie during the summer.  The number of names given is 262; many more deaths are said to have occurred, but not reported.  The record was kept and furnished by the officers at the Fort.  We give the names from Ohio and Indiana, contained in the Melancholy record:
Thomas LUGATE, Zanesville, Ohio, died June 25th, at Fort Laramie, of Cholera, aged 40 years, leaving a wife and five children.
A. OHLINGER, Zanesfille, Ohio, died June 25th, at Fort Laramie, of cholera, aged 45 years, leaving a wife and 3 children.

ROSEVILLE MAN FATALLY SHOT AT HIS HOME

Everett Landrum Jr., Roseville, 34 year old station manager at Lake Central Airways at Municipal Airport, died at 9:00 p.m.
at the hospital, three hours after being shot in the right temple with a 22 caliber rifle in his bedroom.of his Roseville Home.
The Muskingum County, Sheriff;s Dept.the wound was apparently self inflicted . Unmarried he resided with his parents.
Mr. and Mrs. Everett Landrum.
The shooting took place about 6:00 p. m. and the sheriff;s office was notified about 6:30 p.m.
His parents found him in his bedroom at Main Street residence in Roseville
The body was taken to Cannon and Cannon Funeral Home in Roseville. Services will be announced later.

ANNIVERSARY FOR HINDELS SATURDAY
Mr. and Mrs. Larry Hindel will observe their silver anniversary Saturday. They were married Dresden Mrs. Hind el is the former Claudine Moss, daughter of Mrs. Mary
Moss and the late Charles Moss . Mr.. Hindel's parents were the late Mr. and Mrs Dorsey Hindel . The couple have one son, Larry Wayne.
