This post was
organized Apr. 17, 1883. It is so named in honor
of three Morgan County soldiers by that name who lost
their lives in defense of the flag.

Christmas week, 1885, one
of the most successful Grand Army fairs ever held in
Southeastern Ohio was held in McConnelsville under the
auspices of Hughes Post. Contributions were
solicited and received from all parts of the country;
the display was imposing and the financial returns most
satisfactory.
