NOTE:   Life is full of changes and changes are what is happening here at Ohio Genealogy Express.
It is back to just me doing the transcribing and updating along with the wonderful contributors of data who, incidentally do some transcribing of their own..
In all reality, things will probably move a little faster now.
Keep checking back.

Thank you to all who have contributed to OGExpress.
It is greatly appreciated!

With this... I am doing my very best to keep this site updated every day.
I do need a little help from my viewers.
I keep track of what everyone is looking at and try to keep up with it.
If I see someone is looking at Adams County, I try to update it ASAP
If I see someone is looking at Sandusky County, I try to update it ASAP.
Please do me a favor and sign my guestbook and put the areas and names you are researching.  I will check it periodically and try to help you find things for your trees.  It will also help other's searching your lines to contact you as well.

This is what Ohio Genealogy Express is all about.
FREE GENEALOGY RESEARCH.
I am not in this for the money.  This is My Contribution to Humanity.

Thanks to all who visit.
Sincerely,  Sharon Wick
Owner of Ohio Genealogy Express.

APRIL 2016

Greetings All you Genealogy Novices & Gurus!

Hi All.....

April is HERE!!!
The days are getting longer.   YES!!!!
Thank goodness for that.
My flowers are starting to bloom.
Jim brought me a bouquet of Jonquils and Daffodils
Soooo Pretty.

Hoping I get the websites all merged soon.
Been working very very hard on it.

I still am very busy in the past few months.   I am trying to go thru every page on this website to make them better.  When I started this site, I knew nothing about webpage making and so there are lots of wacky looking pages.  I am straightening them all out a little at a time where I can eventually hook everything up to Genealogy Express for the MAIN sight.
I have three website domains and I want them to all be in one spot.
It will make things easier for everyone.
Please keep in mind the web address, which works fine, but it is a little plain:
www.genealogyexpress.com
It will take you to three of my websites which are all connected in some way.
You will like the ending result.
Please bookmark it for future use. (or current use) and...
Please be patient as it will eventually all come together nicely.

~ Sharon Wick

AGAIN......
I enjoy what I do and I enjoy helping people make their genealogy discoveries.
I myself finally found my great grandmother McPheron / Adkins' death certificate and her house!
Wow!!!!  What an exciting find.
My mother's father passed away in the influenza epidemic in 1918 and with that was kind of a falling apart of that part of the family.
Thanks to my distant cousin, Paula, I have copies of wonderful portraits of my great grandmother and grandfather McPheron.
My cousin, Paula passed away last September in a motorcycle accident, May She Rest in Peace.
I do know one thing, and that is... If you have a suspected source, pounce on it because from what I have seen in my own family tree, most of my sources have passed on to the Great Beyond.
Had I procrastinated, I wouldn't be as far as I am in my own research.
I still have several "Brick Walls" to conquer.
One is my Love branch.  The farthest back I have found them is in Lawrence Co., Indiana.
Another is my Earp branch.  The farthest I can find my great great grandmother Milly Earp is in 1853 when she married my great great grandfather.  Simon P. Earp assumed guardianship over her so she could get married and his son, Frank and his wife, Mary Earp signed the marriage license.
Simon lived in Shelby Co., Illinois.
I found her with her new husband in Linn County, Missouri in 1860.
And I also know she was remarried to her 2nd husband, George Leonard in Moultrie Co., Illinois.
Milly Earp was also living in Macon Co., Illinois after her 1st husband died of disease in the Civil War.

~ Sharon Wick ~

AGAIN.....

Please check the Calendar of Updates.
You can click the links at the top of that page to go to prior years' updates.
I have been trying to add data that people have been searching for.

Be sure and Don't be afraid to ask me to transcribe biographies of people listed on all the county and state pages.  That's what I do and that helps me get motivated on each county site.
Please, Please include the name of the person, the county and state that you found them in as it makes it  a lot easier for me to find them.
It also makes me curious about what else I can find on the requested names.
ALSO... Do NOT be afraid to ask me again if I don't get to your request as I have lots to do and sometimes I overlook things.   :-)

~ Sharon Wick ~

As usual....
My website will ALWAYS be free as long as I can keep it online.
I will assist in research as long as it is within my means.  But not if it will cost me money.
That is only fair as I don't charge for this website.
I am still trying to get more biographical indexes

Please be patient.

UPDATE ON KITTY....

It is now April, 2016 and Kitty is STILL hanging in there...  My sweet cat has Lymphoma but I think it is in remission right now.
Kitty loves to go outside again but now it is still a little too cold so she stays in more.

UPDATE ON THE DOG SITUATION:

BUDDY, the Wonder Dog!  :-)
Here is a picture of Jim with his "Buddy"

Buddy is doing pretty good.  He loves to go for car / truck rides.
We have to spoil him, as that is our job, so we take him for rides and to the lake.  If it is warm enough out we just take him to the store and he sits in the car and waits for us.  We leave the windows cracked for him.  Never take him if it is too hot or cold outside though.
It is so cute when he goes with us because the bank and pizza parlor give him a snack when they see he is in the car. :-)
Buddy had his surgery and now he is much better.  The Vet removed a cyst from his chest.  It was tested and all came out well.  If anyone sent dog prayers, thank you very much because it worked.   He is the best dog.  Well trained and very friendly.  We lucked out when we rescued him at the dog pound.
Will keep you informed.
-----------------------

This will help me make sure there is something on each day better.  The  however, you can click on the link to the 2010 , 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 & 2016 calendar to see what I have done, by the day, since August, 2010

As always...
Work on Ohio Genealogy Express will be going on as usual and as I said before, I will be transcribing everything I can get my hands on making requests my top priorities.

Good Luck in your Research and....

OHIO was admitted to Statehood on March 1, 1803
OHIO's State Flag was adopted in 1902.  The Ohio Burgee, as the swallowtail design is properly called, was designed by John Eisemann.  The large blue triangle represents Ohio's hills and valleys, and the stripes represent the original states of the union; the 4 stars added to the peak of the triangle symbolize that Ohio was the 17th state admitted to the union.  The white circle with its red center not only represents the "O" in Ohio, but also suggests Ohio's famous nickname, "The Buckeye State"

The origin of state's name was from the Iroquois Indian word for "good river".  The Capitol of Ohio is COLUMBUS, Franklin Co., Ohio

State Symbols:

  • State animal: White-tailed Deer

  • State bird: Cardinal

  • State capital: Columbus

  • State flower: Scarlet Carnation

  • State wildflower: Large white trillium (Trillium grandiflorum)

  • State insect: Ladybug Beetle

  • State song: "Beautiful Ohio"

  • State rock song: "Hang On Sloopy"

  • State tree: Buckeye

  • State fossil: Trilobite genus Isotelus

  • State drink: Tomato juice

  • State reptile: Black racer snake

  • State gemstone: Ohio Flint
