~ Thanks for your Patience in making this work!~

NOTE:   Life is full of changes and changes are what is happening here at Ohio Genealogy Express.
It is back to just me doing the transcribing and updating along with the wonderful contributors of data who, incidentally do some transcribing of their own..
In all reality, things will probably move a little faster now.
Keep checking back.

Thank you to all who have contributed to OGExpress.
It is greatly appreciated!

With this... I am doing my very best to keep this site updated every day.
I do need a little help from my viewers.
I keep track of what everyone is looking at and try to keep up with it.
If I see someone is looking at Adams County, I try to update it ASAP
If I see someone is looking at Sandusky County, I try to update it ASAP.
Please do me a favor and sign my guestbook and put the areas and names you are researching.  I will check it periodically and try to help you find things for your trees.  It will also help other's searching your lines to contact you as well.

This is what Ohio Genealogy Express is all about.
FREE GENEALOGY RESEARCH.
I am not in this for the money.  This is My Contribution to Humanity.

Thanks to all who visit.

SEPTEMBER 2014 NEWS UPDATE

Greetings All you Genealogy Novices & Gurus!
UPDATE:
Good News!!!!
My wrist and thumb are much better.
Had a little scare... Thought it might be carple tunnel but
it was just a sprained wrist and thumb.
Much Much Better.  Starting to type again.
~ Sharon ~

Hi All.....

It is hard to believe that it is September already.
The children are all back in school and so genealogy researchers have a
little more time to do research.
I am making some major changes that you will eventually notice.
I am hoping it will make your genealogy experiences much better.
Keep watching.

Still working on the Cemetery Project between
transcribing requests and adding new things.

The "Generous Genealogist" is taking a break but I am working hard as ever.
If it looks like I am not doing much, some projects take a little longer
because they are pretty huge.

Another big Thanks to my 'Generous Genealogist' for all the transcriptions submitted.
You are amazing!

Linda Dietz, who works on the Allen County, Ohio part of this website, has been having some medical issues and has been a little slow in transcribing but she will add things as she gets the time and energy.
Prayers go out to her to feel better.

With that.....

I have been transcribing my fingers to the bone and will continue to do so as long as I can sit up and take nourishment.  :-)

Other than that, I do need those who have send lookup requests to me that have not been answered yet, to re-send them as the email does get backed up in that department and sometimes it is just hard to catch of while still trying to put updates online.  I am not ignoring anyone and so again, please re-send the requests.

With that... I will get back to doing what I do best, typing my fingers to the bone. :-)

If you would like to contribute to keep this website going, you can use Pay Pal below or send it by snail mail.  If you prefer snail mail, you can contact me for my address to send it to.  I use the money for the domain and server fees.  If there is any extra, I will purchase more data to transcribe.  There ususally isn't any extra though.

Sharon Wick

PS.....

I'm working on year #6 now and I hope I can give some type of help to someone that is at their 'brick wall' by keeping this website relatively simple to navigate.
Again...
With no muss, no fuss and just getting the information 'out there' in cyberspace for all you good people so that you might find leads in finding your 'roots'.
I have corresponded with some very nice people and along the way found things for my own family tree.
I want to send out a BIG THANKS to all of you who make it worth it by sending nice emails to me and occasional contributions.
For those of you that don't, I am just pleased that I can help you all as well.
I will continue to get the data 'out there' for you as it is my passion to help.
And besides that, I like to type. :-)
I am hoping to bring more and more NEW data as time goes on.
Keep checking back often.
Have a wonderful month,

Sincerely,
Sharon Wick

Please check the Calendar of Updates.
You can click the links at the top of that page to go to prior years' updates.
I have been trying to add data that people have been searching for.

Be sure and Don't be afraid to ask me to transcribe biographies of people listed on all the county and state pages.  That's what I do and that helps me get motivated on each county site.
Please, Please include the name of the person, the county and state that you found them in as it makes it  a lot easier for me to find them.
It also makes me curious about what else I can find on the requested names.
ALSO... Do NOT be afraid to ask me again if I don't get to your request as I have lots to do and sometimes I overlook things.   :-)

~ Sharon Wick ~

As usual....
My website will ALWAYS be free as long as I can keep it online.
I will assist in research as long as it is within my means.  But not if it will cost me money.
That is only fair as I don't charge for this website.
I am still trying to get more biographical indexes

Please be patient.

If I haven't answered your queries, it is because that is not the only way people can contact me.
I answer lots of queries as time allows.
I will eventually get back to those who ask questions.

UPDATE ON KITTY....

It is now September, 2014 and Kitty is STILL hanging in there...   Her appetite goes up and down.  I think it is because she hurts.  I really don't know for sure as she quiets down when I feed her.
She jumps up on her stool next to my computer chair and she will meow a bunch and then after a while she will start pawing me over and over trying to get me to feed her.  I don't want to over feed her so I make her wait a while and then I will finally get up and feed her.
I keep those Kitty snacks handy to give her in between feedings.
I have gotten some vitamins for her and she is finally starting to bathe herself again.
Just a little at a time.
She is close to 17 years old now.
My sweet cat has Lymphoma.
She is taking steroids to prolong her good health for a little longer.
Spring is here so Kitty still isn't going outside at all.  She mostly stays curled up in my recliner while I am typing.
For all you cat lovers, I will keep you posted.

UPDATE ON MAXX.....
Maxx is Maxx... Poor Maxx..
He is still among the missing!
Maxx broke loose from his chain he wears while outside.
Everyone is looking for him and no sight of him yet.
We figured that he may have been girl hunting.  :-)
I think he is gone for good now but one never knows.
Maybe, just maybe he will come back.
Still hoping.

I told my husband that later if he wants to get another dog, that he needs me to go with him to help pick it out (his other son went last time).  I will make sure it is an older dog (Maxx was a puppy) and I will require that it has been trained well.  Then it can come into the house and keep my husband and me company.
I think that is a good plan, right?

I keep finding new material for OGE that I have been trying to get online.
Keep track of the UPDATES CALENDAR to see what I am doing.
It is the best source for updates.

AGAIN...... I am a little behind on my 'REQUESTS' EMAILS so don't be shy....
REMIND ME!   I am getting old. hahahahhahah

That is all I have to say right now but I will keep you updated.

Sharon Wick

-----------------
As always...
Work on Ohio Genealogy Express will be going on as usual and as I said before, I will be transcribing everything I can get my hands on making requests my top priorities.

OHIO was admitted to Statehood on March 1, 1803
OHIO's State Flag was adopted in 1902.  The Ohio Burgee, as the swallowtail design is properly called, was designed by John Eisemann.  The large blue triangle represents Ohio's hills and valleys, and the stripes represent the original states of the union; the 4 stars added to the peak of the triangle symbolize that Ohio was the 17th state admitted to the union.  The white circle with its red center not only represents the "O" in Ohio, but also suggests Ohio's famous nickname, "The Buckeye State"

The origin of state's name was from the Iroquois Indian word for "good river".  The Capitol of Ohio is COLUMBUS, Franklin Co., Ohio

State Symbols:

  • State animal: White-tailed Deer
  • State bird: Cardinal
  • State capital: Columbus
  • State flower: Scarlet Carnation
  • State wildflower: Large white trillium (Trillium grandiflorum)
  • State insect: Ladybug Beetle
  • State song: "Beautiful Ohio"
  • State rock song: "Hang On Sloopy"
  • State tree: Buckeye
  • State fossil: Trilobite genus Isotelus
  • State drink: Tomato juice
  • State reptile: Black racer snake
  • State gemstone: Ohio Flint
  • State motto: "With God all things are possible"
  • Unofficial Motto: "So much to discover" adopted as part of state bicentennial campaign
